Unlock the Power of Solar Energy for your business
Commercial PV systems are a smart choice for businesses and agricultural locations that are looking to harness the sun’s energy to power their operations. These solar installations offer numerous advantages that can benefit your bottom line and the environment.
Environmental Impact
By generating electricity from sunlight, PV systems help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This commitment to sustainability can enhance your company’s environmental reputation and attract eco-conscious customers.
Energy Independence
Producing electricity on-site reduces your dependence on the grid, ensuring a more reliable power supply for your business, even during outages. As commercial and agricultural premises often benefit from having vast roof areas, these can be used to generate free electricity, potentially saving you thousands of pounds a year.
Cost Savings
Commercial PV systems can substantially reduce your electricity bills, leading to significant long-term savings. Plus, they often qualify for government incentives and tax credits, making them a financially savvy investment.
Longevity
Commercial PV systems are built to last, with a performance lifespan of 25-30 years or more when properly maintained, providing a long-term energy solution for your business.
Green Deal Finance
Banks and financial institutions are committed to making funds available for renewable technologies under the government-backed Green Deal Finance Plan.

Smart Ease Finance:
Solar Select works in collaboration with Smart Ease Finance. Smart Ease can offset your energy savings against the cost and installation of the equipment. A full report will be presented which demonstrates your payback period against the cost of investment.
The usual payback for an installation is between 5-7 years. Depending on the cost of your energy bill and the size of the solar array being installed.
An estimated array of 30kW or above is required for Smart Ease finance. Speak to our members of staff for more information.
FAQs
No planning permission is required for installations up to 50 kW. System sizes under 1MW can be installed under the Permitted Development Planning Guidelines unless you have a listed building or in conservation areas. Solar Select will investigate this early in the process to give you the reassurance and expertise you need.
At Solar Select, we ensure the roof and/or land are suitable for the system before any work begins. We can also assist with sourcing the correct contractors to carry out this work if deemed necessary such as a new roof.
All solar PV installations in the UK are currently subject to approval of a G99 application. This application is your local district network operator (DNO) acknowledging that your local grid has the capacity to receive any excess power your solar system generates.
The total timeline from commissioning to a fully operational and commissioned system is on average 6-8 weeks. This can vary depending on to size of the system and installation process. The DNO application can also cause delays, but at Solar Select, we monitor this information constantly to ensure all works are carried out as promptly as possible.
It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that the equipment is monitored and maintained to peak performance. At Solar Select, we offer maintenance and servicing which can also include regular cleaning, get in touch with the team to find out more.
At Solar Select, we always try our best to minimise disruption to your business, especially as the vast majority of the installation takes place outside. Our experienced operations team will work with you to ensure internal works proceed promptly and with the most minimal of disruption. However, we would advise that you take into consideration the following factors:
- Noise – Although every effort will be made to ensure disruptions are minimal, there will inevitably be some noise. The level of interruption this noise will cause is simply subject to the construction type we are working on.
- Scaffolding/Access – Subject to the size and scale of your installation, our installation teams may need to build scaffolding. Depending on the installation location these could be near access points but rest assured that the site will be managed to ensure that the building can remain operational.
- Electrical Interruption – It is likely that for very short intervals we will need to carry out a short electrical shut-down. These can be done during your quiet periods but will need to be planned.
As technology evolves, commercial PV systems will play an increasingly vital role in the energy landscape, helping businesses reduce costs, minimise their environmental impact, and secure a sustainable energy future.
At Solar Select, we work closely with you to design and install a system that is bespoke and tailored to your business.
